Can someone Explain This:?

Can someone explain to me what happened to Thursday? If you look at the 2020 Calendar January 1st was on a Wednesday in 2020. But when you look at the Calendar in 2021, January 1st starts on a Friday. How is this possible when, February hadn’t even kicked in yet, to cause a leap year? What’s with that? Thank’s for sharing.
